Introducing collections

Learn how collections let you organise and display large sets of content like articles or news, with filtering and search.

What are collections?

A collection is like a folder; it groups related content but with front-end features designed for browsing, searching, and filtering.

Collections are ideal for:

  • newsrooms,

  • blogs or updates,

  • press releases,

  • resource libraries,

  • and case studies or publications

Unlike folders, collections don’t just organise content, they help users interact with and explore that content easily.

Key features of a collection

  • Search bar: Users can search across all items in the collection

  • Filters: Sort or filter by tags, categories, topics, or dates

The tagging feature is not yet available in Studio. If you need this functionality, please reach out to the Isomer team.

When to use folders or collections?

Folders: best for structured sections with a clear landing page

Use a folder when:

  • You need a manual structure for a small group of pages

  • You’re building traditional website sections like:

    • About us

    • Services your website provides

Folders are great for structured content where users follow a direct page-to-page flow.

Collections: best for growing content

Use a collection when:

  • You’re managing a growing list of similar items (e.g. news articles, reports, publications)

  • You want built-in filters or search

Ideal for:

  • newsrooms

  • blogs or updates

  • press releases

Collections are ideal for content hubs that evolve over time and benefit from filtering, sorting, and searching.
