What are filters?
Filters help site visitors narrow down a collection to find the items they need.
Filters work within a single collection only and do not apply across collections.
Who can make changes to filters?
Admins | Editors / Publishers |
Add, rename, reorder, and remove filters | Assign filters to each item in the collection |
Add, rename, and remove the options within each filter | Choose an option for each filter from a dropdown list |
Mark a filter as required or optional |
|
Control the order in which filters appear to readers in the collection sidebar |
|
Only Admins see the Manage filters panel. Editors and Publishers will not see it, but
they can select filter options on the items they edit.
š” How does this change impact existing tags or categories? Nothing is lost. Categories and tags are now managed together as filters, and all your existing ones are preserved. The key difference is that instead of typing a category freely on each article, editors now pick from a dropdown of options admin control centrally.

š” Filter and option names are checked for duplicates. The same name, including different capitalisation (e.g. "topic" vs "Topic") won't be allowed within the same collection, so your filters stay consistent.

Remove filters
When you delete a filter or option that is in use, Studio shows you how many items are affected before you confirm, so there are no surprises.

For Publishers & Editors
Once an Admin has set up and published the filters, editors and publishers can apply them to individual items:
Open the collection item you want to tag for editing.
Find the filter fields and choose an option from each dropdown. The available options match what the Admin set up in Manage filters.
Fill in any required filters ā you won't be able to publish the item until you do.
Save and then publish the item.
