What happens when you unpublish a page
Unpublishing removes a page from your public website but keeps it in Isomer Studio, so you can edit it and publish it again later.
When you unpublish a page:
Your website visitors who go to the page's address see a "page not found" message
The page stops appearing on the overview page of the folder it sits in
The page keeps its place in the same folder, so its address stays the same if you publish it again
Your content is kept as an editable draft, including any changes you had not published yet
Note that the home page cannot be unpublished. If you need to take an entire site offline, you may refer to the decommissioning guide.
Unpublishing is available to Publishers and Admins. Editors cannot unpublish pages.
Search engines take longer to catch up. While the page may still appear in the search results after unpublishing, the result will drop off on its own eventually.
Unpublish a page
You have the option of unpublishing a page immediately or at a later time.
Open the page in Isomer Studio.
Click the ⋯ button next to Publish.
Select Unpublish page.
Choose if you want to unpublish now or later.
If you wish to unpublish later, you can pick the date and time you want the page to come off your website, then confirm.
The page comes off your website and its status changes to Unpublished.
If the page has changes you had not published yet, those changes are kept.
Scheduled unpublish
You will get an email confirming the schedule, and another when the page comes off your website. You do not need to be logged in for it to happen.
Two things change once a schedule is set:
The page is locked for editing until the scheduled unpublish happens or you cancel it
The page can hold only one scheduled action at a time, so you cannot schedule a publish and an unpublish together
Cancel a scheduled unpublish
Open the page in Isomer Studio.
Click Cancel schedule.
Confirm that you want to cancel.
You will get an email confirming the cancellation, and the page is editable again.
Publish an unpublished page again
Open the page in Isomer Studio.
Make any edits you need. An unpublished page is fully editable, so you can update last year's dates before it goes back up.
Click Publish, or use the arrow next to it to schedule the page for a future date.
Your page takes around 5 to 10 minutes to appear on your website. Publishing is available to Publishers and Admins.
Delete a page you no longer need
You can only delete a page after you have unpublished it. Unpublishing is reversible and deleting is not, so taking the page off your website first gives you a moment to confirm that removing it is really what you want.
To delete a page:
Unpublish the page, following the steps above.
Open the ⋯ menu and select Delete.
Confirm.
Deleting an unpublished page is available to Editors, Publishers and Admins.
